Note: Equipping only The Wall, without a Sword or Flail, is possible. This allows you to carry two additional weapons, maintain the ability to dodge, and still complete the quest.
Complete the following to improve your The Wall:
Defeat Greundgul the Regent in The Starstone Barrows (Expedition)
To unlock Chromatic Ward.
Defeat 30 Angry Earth at Tanglesnap Hollows
To unlock Sturdy.
Fast way: Pull Hollow Reindeer. They summon Briar Turrets.
Those are low HP enemies and also count towards the Angry Earth enemies.
Defeat 50 Human in Empyrean Forge (Expedition)
To unlock Keenly Fortified.
