Those I have spoken to have stonewalled my every inquiry. There are those amongst the Lost who were once our devoted brothers and sisters, and these leaders of the Covenant refuse to even acknowledge their existence. I have been ordered unceremoniously to return to my duties, and to speak no further on the subject. Adjudicator Roose even implied excommunication if I continued this direction of inquiry. Such an insult is nearly too much to bear. Is concern for my fellows now the crime of an apostate? Unthinkable!
Perhaps it is simple hubris that drives such denials. But I cannot help but suspect there is something more sinister afoot. Someone must honor the sacrifice of our fallen comrades by uncovering the truth of their misfortune. If my actions provoke the wrath of these supposed superiors, so be it.
