Damn Winfrey!

I cannot get out!

Damn Winfrey! Damn him straight to Hell! The thrice-damned fool had me convinced this would be easy money. As if! Anywhere you see these blasted ruins there’s naught but death and horror. Yet here I thought I could just loot whatever secrets the Ancients locked away in some remote mountainside because my “friend” swore to me the place was deserted. Things were looking calm enough when we made our way to this cavern. The ruins were dusty and the ancient machinery was still. But nothing in this place stays dead for long! Winfrey, that madman, kept pressing deeper until we found this frozen hellscape. And somehow, down in the deeps, he awakened something. As it happens, our Ancient hosts had big plans for whatever fool was arrogant enough to try and play with their toys. Their war engine ripped Winfrey apart before I could blink! For my own part, I ran, and left him to his fate. I’ve been hiding for hours, and the machine finally seems to have lost interest in me. But the lift is smashed, and I can still hear that infernal thing rampaging through the deeps. There’s only one way out now, and I know what it is. Luckily, my blade is sharp, and my will is strong. It’s a grim thought, but wherever I wake is bound to be better than here, waiting to be torn limb from limb by that contraption. If you’ve found this, stranger, take my advice and go back the way you came. I imagine you think you’re a pretty dangerous fellow. So did I. But there’s things down here no one can stand against. So do the sensible thing and turn back!
