Part of the following chapter Riding Masters of Aeternum #1
Time to retire...

Inez says the golden age of we free traders is now. The horses are a chance to stay one step ahead of the tax man, and the long arm of the law. And it takes a great deal more contraband to put a bow in an equine back! The profit margins will soar like never before. But I am tired of this life. The running. The hiding. The getting caught, and suffering all manner of torment and humiliation. No… when I am on horseback all I can think of is the wind in my hair, and the smell of the cool night air. When my Espoir runs, I wish it to be for the sheer joy of a free heart, not because he is chased by some thug who fancies himself a lawkeeper. If Inez does not share my resolve, so be it. I mean to leave behind this life of secrets and squabbles. For this is Aeternum, and there are many ways that a fool and his money may soon be parted. -Francois
